In February 2018, our 5-year-old son was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. He hadn’t been sick, but we noticed a persistent swollen gland on his neck that we eventually had looked at. Cancer. As a parent, that word stops your world. The breath is knocked out of you. There are absolutely no words that can summarize the terror, fear and pain.
Fortunately, we live 1.5 hours from one of the best medical centers in the world. We met with doctors at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and we were soon embarking on our 25-month journey towards a cure.
People came out of the woodwork to help our family. Prayers, meals, childcare, pet sitting, house cleaning, care packages, donations… you name it, people did it. It was so humbling to see the power of a community coming together to support us.
As this journey has continued, there have been so many times I wished I had a way to thank people for their kindness. I’ve sent cards, I contemplated flowers, but I never found anything that ‘felt’ right, or fulfilled the gratitude I needed to express.
I gave it some thought. I wanted to find a creative, personal, thoughtful (easy!) way to show people I was thinking about them. I wanted to send a small token of thanks, but more importantly, I wanted to continue to fulfill the mission of giving back.
After numerous text messages back and forth with my quirkiest friends, aniMAIL cares was born. Whether it’s to thank someone for a home cooked meal, to congratulate someone for a job well done, or to boost someone’s spirits when they need it most… aniMAIL brings a smile for every occasion.
When you send aniMAIL, you give twice. A portion of all proceeds from aniMAIL cares will be donated to support childhood cancer research. We would not be where we are today without the help from the tremendous doctors and hospitals committed to finding a cure. We are eternally grateful and are honored to give back in any way we can.
Thank you. Thank ewe. Thank you.
